Hello, my name is Vanessa, I am a qualified, integrative counsellor. I am a registered, proficient, member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I am bound and adhere to it’s ethical framework for good practice to work safely and in the best interest of the client.

Life is full of challenges, obstacles and difficulties are you struggling to make sense of your life? Many factors can affect an individual's ability to flourish; abuse, traumatic experiences, grief and loss, life’s stages/events, low self-esteem and a lack of self -direction. Deciding to see a counsellor is a big decision you may feel that know one understands or that you do not want to share your difficulties with family or friends. Confidentiality is the core of the counselling relationship it builds trust and the therapeutic relationship. There are some exceptions when there is a risk of harm, which I will discuss with you in the first session.

Integrative counselling is a combined approach to psychotherapy that brings together different elements of specific therapies. I believe one approach is not suited to all clients as unique individuals we have different personalities, needs and experiences. Counselling techniques are tailored to your individual needs and personal circumstances to assist personal growth and change. This approach can help individuals of all ages with a range of personal issues, particularly useful in helping individuals to overcome specific problems such as depression, anxiety, personality disorders, abuse, trauma, eating disorders and alcohol addictions.

About me:

I can offer you a safe, confidentiality ,warm, genuine, respectful, and non- judgemental environment that values your feelings, views and difficulties. I will listen and step into your world using a range of approaches that are best suited to your needs and difficulties to assist you to explore your experiences, thoughts and feelings in a respectful, empathic, confidential space. I will not direct and tell you what is best for you but I will step into your world to understand what you are experiencing to support you to make sense of your difficulties so you can find your own solutions to your concerns and difficulties. Making sense of your world can be difficult and I will provide you with a supportive relationship to work through your difficulties to improve your well-being. This will include working directly in the here and now, problem solving behaviours and developing day-to-day tools to build coping strategies and positive management of difficulties.
